We were on a amusement park called Liseberg this Saturday.

We had so fun and stuff.

This is called Uppskjutet.(shootup) basicly it shoots you up.

Uppsvinget. (Swingup). It swings back and forth in the air.

Kanonen. (The Canon) It's a rollercoaster that goes really fast! 70 km/h!

Balder. (Balder) It's a REALLY FUN rollercoaster, THE BEST ! :D

There´s a lot in May

Hello and thanks for the postcard. It seems great to go on a camp for a week, even if you have to walk that much that you get tired and your feet hurts.

Now we have about a month left in this school. When school start again in August, we´ll have to take the bus to the huge (more than 1000 pupils)school in Tranemo. and Anna-lena has to start over with small children again , 9 - 10 years old.

There are a lot of extras in May. Tomorrow we will go to our nearest city, Borås, to watch a theatre. We are also going to visit the textile museum. Borås was - and still is - a textile town.

Borås has about 100000 inhabitants, it has a big Zoo and it has a good footballteam, Elfsborg.

Next week the girls are going to Tranemo on a special "girlday". They are going to meet girls from other schools in our municipality. The week after, it is the boy´s day.

We also are going to visit the big industry here in Grimsås. It is a Nexans company and it produces cabel for all different needs. We are going there twice, to see the production and to learn about the company.

The 26th of May the whole school will have an evening with musicals and theatre and songs about environment. Parents, grandparents and other people are welcome to come to school and watch all the performances.

The 31th of May class six invites all the other classes to a long walk with quiz and other activities.

The 4th-5th of June the class is going to Gothenburg to visit the amusementpark Liseberg and the science center Universeum.

So there are a lot of things going on every week.

We read books for twenty minuts every morning. Somer of our favourite books in class six are the Twilight saga, The Hunger games and books written by the Swedish author Martin Widmark and the british author RL Stine.

Earlier we ´ve read alot of books from our famous author Astrid Lindgren. we are very proud of having such a good and well known Swedish author.

How often do you read books? Who´s you favourite authors. Do you know any book written by Astrid lindgren?

Dear friends,
we will not be at our school from 19th to 23rd April. We are going to a school camp in Mežica, one and a half hour drive from our town. We are all very excited. We are going to stay in a home called Peca (named after a near-by mountain) in rooms with 3 to 8 beds.
We are going to do a lot of things: cycling, walking and we are going to learn in nature. We hope it won't rain.
On Monday we are also going to visit Minimundus in Austria. There are models of world famous buildings. One day we are going to a mine, some of us are going to have a bike tour underground.
After that it's our one-week holiday.
We'll be back to school on 3rd May.

We gonna tell about to be a teenageger in sweden.

It´s different to be a teenager in a small school than it is to be in a big school.

In a small school like ours it isn´t so important what you are wearing. In a big school it´s more important.

Girls start to use make up and guys start to use hairgel.
The mobilphone is very popular and important for teenagers, also the computer.
We are gonna start a new school when we start 7th grade. That´s a big change.
We all are excited to start in "Tranemo".
You also got more interested in boys and girls.
Girl go shopping wiht friends.
Boys play fotball and computer.

Our school had ECO day in October. Check here .
Some of our ideas to your recycling question:
use tyres for swings or stairs, make patchwork blankets from old clothes.
TV frames can become tables or photo frames, from old chairs we make new chairs and paint them.

In October we sent old fluffy toys and school things to Madagascar.
In one workshop students made wishing cards from old paper and a decoration tree for a school play.

We don´t have any festivals in Sweden. But we eat a speial bun on " Fat Tuesday". It is a bun filled with cream and almond paste. And it tastes great!

Today we have had a fun day in school. We have worked with recycling.

We were in groups and we had to decide what to make out of

100 tyres,

50 jeans and 50 sweaters,

100 chairs,

50 dustbins,

50 old TV-sets,

50 plastic toys and 50 cuddly toys,

100 books or 50 bikes.

We had a lot of ideas how to recycle all these things. What abbout you, do you have any suggestions?

We´ll tell about our suggestions next Friday!

It's carnival time

Today it's Shrove Tuesday. Many people wear masks and costumes. Look at us in the photo.
We eat doughnuts on this day. They're good, usually have marmelade inside.

There is a smaller carnival in our town centre in the afternoon. We are there too.

In our country there are some traditional costumes and masks, for example "kurenti".
They're quite scary, but people say that they call the spring. Kurents are dressed in wool and they've got big and noisy bells.

We all like this tradition.

Winterholiday

Next week we are onn winterholiday. There are a lot of snow so we can ski. It is cold and we have big ice to go skating or play icehockey one.

After our winter holidays it will be fun to write a story together.

On Monday we went to the "raven house" next to the steep hill. We went snow-raceing, and some were skating and playing hockey on the ice in the valley. Some went skiing. We had snacks, which we call a "fika" we had hot chocolate, tea and cookies. The girls were showing ice-dance. It was also nice to watch. It was fun to be out in the snow.

On Friday we were at the festival about high schools (Festival of Education and Employment). On the festival we can see difrent high schools presentations. There were people from a lot of high schools and they showed us what they do in that school. I think it was great because now we can easier decide to what high school we well go.

I think you send the snow to us from Slovenia and Sweden. It is snowing ceaseless from 24 hours!
Usualy it is not snowing so much here in Constantza because of the sea!
This is our school today, at noon:
Children playing, we have been send to our homes , because of the bad weather!
So it was a good time to stay in front of our school and make snowballs:
Ans this is my happy dog to, it is her first snow!

Winter is nice, we put on warm clothes and we ski, sleigh, snowball. We adore this time. Look at our 1st graders in the first photo. They are making snowmen.

We are lucky because it isn't so cold in Slovenia, around
0° degrees. Snow is melting. Some of us are sad because of this.

We started school on 4th January.

Every Sunday in Advent we light one candle, just as you do..

We also have electric lightholders in the windows, or big stars, and many families have a lot of electric lights in their gardens We also have a calender where we open one shutter every day from the 1st of December until Christmas Eve, the 24th.

On TV and in radio there are "calenders" too, and the calenders are made up by stories, one part for every day.

Lucia is a special day in Sweden. The 13th of December the Saint Lucia comes together with her maids, "starboys" and goblins. The Lucia procession sings Lucia songs and Christmas Carols. They also give out coffee, ginger bread and a special kind of bun, called "Lucia cat".

We have trained for our Lucia Procession for months. We will perform three times, for all the citizens in Grimsås on Sunday, for the school children on Monday morning, and for the big factory Nexans on Monday afternoon.

Elin is Lucia this year, and all girls from class 3 to class 6 take part of the performance. And so do three boys, Daniel is among them.

We´ll send you some pictures from our Lucia procession on Tuesday.

Friday the 18th we finish school.

The most important day for Swedish people is Christmas Eve.

The Christmas tree is decorated, and many other Christmas decorations in the house. ( Most common are small Father Christmas figures.)

At lunch time many families "dip in the saucepan". You dip bread in the clear soup you get when you cook the ham.

At 3 o´clock in the afternoon is an important time. Since many years TV sends "Donald Duck and his friends" - short cuts from Disney films.

In the evening it is time for the huge table with Christmas food -ham, meatballs, salmon, special sausages, herring, " Jansons temptation"and many other dishes.

And after that Sancta comes ( and we´ve got the real Sancta in Sweden- no mums or dads - we don´t understand what you mean :)) and gives gifts to everybody.

After that we eat sweets and cakes and we don´t feel well at all, actually....

Some people go to midnight mass, some people go to the early service at 7 on Chritmas day. Most people do not go to church at all - because we seem to have forgotten why we celebrate Christmas. That´s a real shame....

You asked how much money we raised on the market. About 400 euro. ( 4000 Swedish kronor)

We would like to go to Stockholm,Gothenburg.....we really haven´t decided yet.

Yes, December is here and soon Christmas trees will be standing in our homes. In the photo you can already see some of our this year's school decorations. On 21st December there will be a Christmas choir concert at our school.
Our secretary says that before Christmas she does general home cleansing.
We are looking forward to the presents that we get from Santa who is really our mum and dad, it just looks like it's him.
This weekend many of us got small presents (mostly sweets and fruit) from St. Nicholas and at the end of the year there is another tradition of Father Frost which is similar to Father Christmas.

What do you eat for Christmas? We eat our traditional food potica. Do you remember it? Many in our class go to midnight mass on 24th December and we will have cribs under our Christmas trees.
We also light one candle every advent Sunday. On Friday our 6th graders made their own Christmas table decorations. We did the same last year.

Your market looks very interesting. How much money did you raise? Where would you like to go at the end of class 6?

It is December and soon it is Christmas. Christmas markets have already started on many places. In Grimsås there was a small market last Sunday, the first Sunday in Advent. Our class had a lottery on the market, just to get money so we can make a small journey before we split up in the end of class six.

There were one hundred prices in the lottery.

Today we received the webcam and the earphones... nice surprice.
We are very proud and happy. In the same time we won another price with our ecological project CO2nnect. The jury gave us 2nd price and we are going in Norway in springtime !!!!

First of all, congratulations to beeing one of the best football nations in Europe! Great work beating big, big Russia! What stars do you have in the Slovenian team? Do you have any good Slovenian clubs or are most of the players professional players abroad?In which clubs?
We are a bit disapponted here in Sweden, not reaching the World Championship in South Africa. But it is just to face the facts,the Swedish team wasn´t good enough this time.

In the class we have discussed what we are proud of and here is what the pupils said:
We are proud of our good skiers, Robert in our class and Anja Person and Jon Olsson, who make great results in the World Cup.
Even cross country skiers as Charlotte Kallas makes us proud.

Mats Sundin and Foppa Forsberg are hockeyplayers who make us proud, and some times we can be proud of the Swedish hockeyteam as well.

And of course our famous players Henrik Larsson and Zlatan Ibrahimovic make us proud.

Astrid Lindgren, the famous author, has written books as Pippi Longstocking and Ronja. Have you read any of her books? She was a great story teller, and we are very proud that she came from Sweden.

Quite a lot of good musicians come from Sweden. We suppose that many of you know ABBA, and the film " Mama Mia".

Alexander Skarsgård and his father Stellan Skarsgård are two famous actors. You can see Alexander in "True blood" - and Stellan you can see in "Mama Mia".

Björn Borg is almost as old as the teacher of the class, ( she is 56) but the pupils still remember him and feel proud about the world´s best tennis player in the late seventies.

Hello!
We are back, wishing you a lot of health.
In our class two students weren't at school yesterday. They had virosis and a headache.
We have flu vaccine but there is a dilemma about using it and nobody in our class decided to have an injection. Most of us are not too afraid.
At school we wash our hands regularly and we desinfect our hands with a desinfection liquid.
Here in Slovenia is a small panic about the swine flu because one old woman died and one man is in hospital very ill.

We are looking forward to your presentations. It was the same in our class, we waited for some students.

Now our presentations are nearly finished. When we read about our friends i Celje, everybody in Grimsås wanted to make a presentation of their own.
Most of us are ready,but we are still waiting for some to finish.
Many of us in the class, and in our school, have been ill - and some still are.
We have got the flu here, some have got the swein-flu, others might have an other kind of flue. Only if you go to hospital, and stay there, they take a specimen to check out if it is the swein flu or not.
Yesterday teachers and pupils here in Grimsås got an injection to prevent us from the flu. So we hope all children are back to school soon again.
What about you - have you got the flu? Have you got vaccine against it?

Swedish weather

This week the temperature was around +5-8 degrees. It was really cold, grey and boring. We havn´t seen the sun on the whole week. Our hands did shake very much when we cycled to school. Because it was so cold.

The trees leaf wasn´t on the trees. They are on the ground.

And the sunrise comes at 8 oclock and the sunset 17.47.Soon it will be snow we think. It has snowed once. It was about one and a half week ago.

The Weather in Celje in October

In Slovenia, in Celje in October it is pretty cold right now, but it's sunny too. The weather is now always changing. In the mornings it's from -1 to +8 °C. In the afternoon the sun shines, but it's not hot. It is around 8 to 11 °C and it's often windy. This is for us very cold because last week there was +20 degrees.
And when the sun goes down it's from 9 to 3°C. Now some mornings the grass is »frosted«.
We like autumn tree colours.

Somewhere in the mountains the snow already fell and some of us can't wait for the snow to come in Celje, so we will go skiing, ice skating, ice sledging,...

"Today was a beautiful autumn day. The weather was warm even though in the morning, clouds were all over the sky forcing temperature to decrease somewhere around 10 degrees on Celsius scale. At first, I was afraid that it would be a rainy day and I would have to hide myself under my big umbrella. But slowly, the temperature started to get into her senses and at noon , the thermometer showed me that I could enjoy a beautiful, warm day. The day was perfect for running in the park and enjoying the shy sun. Wind was blowing moderate caressing my chicks. When the sun disappeared under the horizon line I started to feel my nose and my hands getting a bit colder. I realized that I had to accept that summer was gone and so was autumn. I felt that winter sent us a warning. I smelled the cold air and smiled because I knew that once winter came Santa would only be a short distance away.

Only two months and I will be playing with snow. "( Vangu Maria, 11 years old )

My Lunch ( answers from Romania )

We have a very crowded school and we have to learn from 8a.m. till 7 p. m. In the afternoon the litle ones ( from 7 to 11 years old) are going home and it's time for us (12 to 15 years old) to start classes. Sometimes my pupils begin at 12 a clock and they have no time to have lunch. At 3p.m. we get from our government what you see in this picture: yoghurt (or milk) with biscuits( or roll of bread). It's better then nothing ! Some children are eating it or get it to their homes... for grandma :-)

School lunch in Slovenia, I. OŠ Celje

Hello back to you all.
In Slovenia, there is different than in Sweden.
We need to pay our lunch. It costs around 38 € per month. In our class seven students take school lunch after school.
Our ordinary lunch is soup, pork meat, potatoes, salad and not so sweet juice, because it isn't healthy for us. But sometimes we have pasta, chicken meat, rice, ice cream or cake.

Everybody in our class take a school snack at 9.30. Parents pay 12 € for this school snack and governement pays the rest. Yoghurt, a hot dog or a slice of pizza are the best.

Four times a week at our school we have a free fruit at 11.30. We get a piece of fruit, often it's an apple.

Enjoy in good food.

School lunch?

Hallo to you all, from a beautiful Sweden, dressed in autumn colours.

Our question for the week is about the school lunch. We have understood that is more common not to have a free lunch in school, than to have one.

In Sweden we have had free school lunch for all school children from 6 - 19 years age, for about sixty years.

The question is What about you? How do you get you lunch, and what do you eat for lunch?

In our shool we use to have minced meat once a week, fish once a week, sausage once or twice, soup once a week and sometimes we have chicken meat or pork meat. We have lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes, carrots every day - and sometimes some other kind of vegetables. Rice, pasta or potatoes is served to the fish, meat and sausage. We drink milk or water.

We are very curios about the habits in Slovenia, Hungary and Romania.

And we are also curios about the question for next week - from Romania.

Hello from Sweden.

Language is new this year.

We are going to try Spanish, French and German.

We are going to try twice and then make a choice of one language, that we will study for atleast three years.

We are in the 6th grade now.

We are 12 years old.

Some lessons we work together with the 5th grade.

Together with the 5grade we are 25 pupils in our class.

Hello from Slovenia! Our school year starts on 1st September.
This year we are class 7b with 23 students. We have a new classmate. His name is Asdren, he's from Albania. We are 12 years old. We go to the same school for 9 years.
We usually start school at 8 o'clock. There are some optional extra lessons or activities at seven.

There are some new things this year:
some new school subjects (two lessons of German every week, a subject Ethics and Civil education, an obligatory elective subject by our individual choice). There's a new interactive board in our English classroom. It's cool.

Starting classes 2009 /2010

In Romania teachers are going to school 1st September . Students start 15th September ! This year I have to take another class for a period of 4 years. My older students are now at highschool. I'll continue the project with Evelin's class, which you already know.
Pupils from7 to 11 years old are learning in the morning , from 8 to 12 a clock. The others in the afternoon. We have a crowded school!

It is ten minutes past eigth and the classroom is still empty. The children hasn´t come yet. School starts at 8.40.

We have been back to school for a week, and it feels like we never have had sommerholiday.

This year the class is a class six, they are 12 years old. It is the last year in the small school here in Grimsås. next year they have to go to Tranemo, to a big school with almost 1000 pupils.

Our school is situated in a crowded area. Never the less we have a small park just in front of our classes. Here is what we see from our windows!

The tower is a part of the Cable Factory.

GRIMSÅS

We can see Nexans from our school and we can see a church. We go scouting there. And we can see the swimming pool, football field, houses and the haulage.
And in Grimsås we have a kiosk but someone did burn it down, so we can´t use it any longer.
We have a ( small) supermarket and a flower shop.
Carl Erik’s car sells and repairs cars. Carl Erik started selling and repairing cars in 1963.
GIF it is a football club. GIF means Grimsas sports club.
We have a kindergarten for children from one to five year. We have an old people’s home. The “Korphouse” is the oldest house in Grimsas. You can have parties there and close to the “Korp house” is a field for boule, and there are also ski tracks and an ice hockey court in the winter.
In the summer can swim in the pool close to the school.
In Grimsås there is a big factory, producing cables for houses, cars, broad band and so on. About 500 people work there.
Grimsås has about 800 inhabitants.

We like playing a game called Between 2 fires. We promised to explain the rules. To play it you need two teams and one ball. It's similar to dodgeball.
Every team chooses one person who stands outside the fields. That person is a reserve and is on the opposite side of the team field to catch the ball the team throws.
We start hitting the other team with a ball.
You mustn't step over the line. If you do, you must give the ball to the other team.
The person who is hit goes out to help the team reserve catch the ball.
When all team members in the field are hit, the team reserve goes in the field.
The reserve has 3 lives.
When the reserve loses all three lives (is hit three times), the other team wins.

We have fun playing it! So can you...

Places in a town

Our school is almost in the centre of the town Celje.
There's a hospital near our school. There's a hotel, many schools, a plague statue, a car park and a railway. There isn't a shop near our school building.
There are some trees around our school and a lot of grass.
We can see an old castle on a hill from our English classroom.

In Celje you can go swimming, cycling, bowling or shopping. You can watch a handball match at the sports centre or a film at the cinema. You can visit museums and the castle. You can go for a walk in a park or around a lake but you can't visit an aquarium.

We think that in Eurovision 2009 were many wonderful songs! We liked song from Norway a lot ( 8 students), Azerbadjan(4 students), Turkey( 2 students) and Iceland ( 2 students). Some of us liked song from Malta and Moldova. They didn't like the Romanian song. I ( teacher ) still like Portuguese song :-))

.. was the winner, Norway. Some of us in the class liked Turkey and Azerbadjan too.

The tallest pupil in the class is 175 cm and the shortest is 143 cm.

Last Thursday we got a fine prize, in our class. It was the prize for the smartest innovation. Some boys in the class "invented" the math alarm clock.

It can be har to wake up in the morning, and the alarm clock rings, you switch it off ... and go on sleeping. But this alarmclock shows a math tassk on the display, and you have to write the rigth answer before the signal stops. You have to use your brain, and you wake up!

We went to Gothenbourg, and there were 370 different inventions and 1650 children on a the big Innovation Mass.

In "Schoolovision" we came on the 19th place. So we did better than the Swedish entry in Eurovision Song Contest - and we bet Norway in Schoolovision. Last week was a real great week.

Here in the north of Europe, we often think that Slovenia and Romania are very close neighbours. Today we messured the distance between our hometowns and found out that it is about 1200 km from Grimsås to Celje, about 1750 km from Grimsås to Constanta ( birds way) and about 1000 km betweeen Celje and Constanta.
So it isn´t very strange that your languages differs so from each other!
We have one Hungarian boy in the class, and he couldn´t find anything in any of your languages that could remind of his language. Two boys with roots in Chile, found words in the Romanian language that was quite similar to Spanish - or Italian. Interesting!

Here is Evelin ! He stays about 2 hours on MSN because he has homeworks . His friend Florinel has the same time for MSN . They wish to stay more than 2 hours / day!!!!!!!The real campion is Eros : he stays 6 hours / day to chat with his friends . 11 pupils and the teacher have MSN.

In P.E. we play some sports, as football, badminton, softball, handball, basket, and dodgeball.
In autumn we train athletics and we have two different competitions, when we compete with pupils from other schools..
Sometimes we have ship wreck on P.E. lessons. That´s fun. You have to move round the sport hall, without touching the floor.
We have some games as warming up. One is the eternity relay. I think that you can understand what that means....

Idag på morgonen så hade vi läsning som vanligt. Efter läsningen hade vi engelska. Vi började på ett nytt kapitel. Det handlar om första flygplanet de byggde 1903. Efter det var det rast många spelade pingis Men istället för att det är en pingisboll så är det bandyboll. Det är roligt. sen efter rasten hade vi skräpplockning. Det var en kvinna från kommunen som berättade att om man slänger ett papper i en papperskorg så kostar det bara 0,25 öre. Men när man slänger det på marken så kostar det 3,45 kr. så delades vi in i grupper vi fick en påse var. Några skulle samla glas, plast och annat. Efter skräpplockningen var det lunch. Det var kålpudding och potatis med brunsås det var gott.

Efter lunchen tittade vi på alla photo storys. Efter det var det rast. Sen hade vi idrott det var tempoboll det var roligt.

Hallo everyone! Now we are back in school after a great Easter holiday. The weather has been wonderful, so we have got an early spring this year. On the photos you can see one of the games we play on the break.

We made a voting and gave our different school subjects points, to find out the most popular subjects. Handicraft was the great winner, and after that came Art and PE. Even Maths and English were popular.

Social Studies, Science, Swedish and Music didn´t get many points.

The most popular computer games are the on-line games. On MSN there are a lot of games the pupil use. World of warcraft, Runescape and Go Super Model are popular on-line games.

Our favourite are Art, English and Sport. They are interesting and fun. Some also like Craft, Slovene and Cooking.

Our town , Constantza , is at the sea side . So we can say that we can go to the beach all day long during our summer holidays . Some of us are going to the mountains or at the country to our grandparents . If our parents could afford to go in other country we surrely go next summer in Spain or Turkey .

We have some wonderful dresses for each region of our country . It's hard to make a selection but we have found a site for you to look at . We don't wear those dresses ... only on shows( popular dances ) and maybe in villages on Sunday at church or on special days like Christmas and Easter !

National Dress

Our National Dress has the colours of blue, yellow and white. The dress is about 100 years old. But from the beginning it was a combination of Sweden and Norway, so it have been dresses which were red and white to. (Sweden and Norway were one country 1814 – 1905).

We don’t use the dress very much, we use it for special times.

Our crown princess often uses it on her birthday.

Holidays

We discussed in our class where we go on our holidays.

Everybody has been in foreign country on holiday.
A few go to Thailand , Norway, Hungary, Germany or Austria. Many go to Turkey, Spain, to the Swedeish mountains, to the Swedish west coast or to the islands in the Baltic sea.

Some go skiing on winter holiday - almost every go on summer holidays.

When we are on holidays we stay there 1-2 weeks or more.

We did a questionnaire about free time in our class.
Most pupils watch TV and use computers. Many of us listen to music and play with friends on playgrounds. Some boys ride bikes through the town and play football.
We often go to movies with friends.
Some free days are special. We go to wellness centre Laško and enjoy swimming.
In last months it is popular that some girls have a stayover at the weekends.

The most popular music is pop, rock, metal and reggae. But some of us listen to classical music, too, for example Mozart.

Our favourite Slovene singers are Jan Plestenjak and Alya (see photo).

At music lessons we sing a lot of Slovenian traditional folk music like Ena ptička priletela (One bird has flown), Pleši, pleši (Dance, dance), etc…

We have some special food. We like štruklji (dumplings), ričet (thick soup with barley), pečenice (frying sausages), žganci (hard-boiled corn mush). We don't like krvavice (black pudding or blood sausages).

Our favourite special food is "potica". It's a walnut roll. We eat this dessert for holidays (specially for Easter and Christmas).
For making it you need: flour, yeast, eggs, nuts, sugar, salt. It's not easy to make it. Grandmothers usually bake it.

Meatballs, potatoes, sauce and lingonberry jam is a traditional dish.

"Falu-sausage" is a kind of sausage that has its origin from the 1600th century.

In the cupper-mine, in Falun, thay had to kill a lot of oxen/bullocks to use their skin to make ropes of. They also got a loty of meat, and they used it to make a special - very good - sausage. Fried Falu-sausage and mashed potatoes is a very common dish in Sweden.
